School Supplies Program
School Supplies Program of Marissa's Kitchen is aimed to assist parents in their children's school and educational needs.
In developing countries like the Philippines, children in remote areas have several reasons why they do not attend school. Some barangays simply have no schools or the nearest is at least a few kilometers walk. But the most prevalent reasons are tuition fees are too high, no appropriate clothing to wear, or no enough money for school supplies.
Who benefit the program?
At present, there are of over 400 school children who benefit from this program. Before each school year starts, they are provided with necessary school supplies for free.
It's Impact...
Poverty can wreck a child's future by preventing them from finishing school. In the worst scenarios, parents send their children to work to help support their families, leaving school without protest, or the understanding of the devastating long term effects it will have on their lives.
MK's School Supplies Program can be a solace for parents who are struggling hard to make both ends meet, having difficulty in feeding their children, and simply can't afford to buy their children the necessary learning tools. The School Supplies Program give their children a fair chance to learn. The program also contributes to the reduced school drop out rates.
Expansion Plans
Marissa's Kitchen is in the process of expanding the program from provision of school supplies and clothing, to educational sponsorship for each child.
